Discover Thai Mex Cocina

If you're looking for a unique dining experience that fuses vibrant Thai and Mexican flavors, Thai Mex Cocina in Los Angeles is a must-try. Located at 10250 Santa Monica Blvd, this spot serves a delicious blend of two beloved cuisines in a way that feels fresh and exciting. Whether you're a fan of bold spices or crave a fusion of cultures, this restaurant brings the best of both worlds to the table.

At Thai Mex Cocina, the menu is an adventurous journey. You’ll find traditional Thai ingredients like lemongrass, basil, and coconut milk, combined with the zesty heat and flavors of Mexican food, such as cilantro, lime, and various chilies. For example, their Thai-inspired tacos are a perfect representation of this fusion, with juicy grilled chicken or shrimp drizzled with a sweet chili sauce and topped with fresh herbs. The taco shells, crispy yet tender, are the perfect vessel for the flavor-packed fillings, creating a satisfying crunch with every bite.

The concept of blending Thai and Mexican cuisine isn’t just experimental-it’s a reflection of the owners' background, having spent time in both Thailand and Mexico, absorbing the nuances of both culinary traditions. This unique perspective brings authenticity to every dish. Many of the recipes on the menu have been passed down from family members, infused with the spirit of both cultures, ensuring a personal touch in each bite. If you’ve ever wondered how pad Thai can meet a burrito, this is the place where that dream comes to life.

The decor inside Thai Mex Cocina mirrors its eclectic fusion. The interior is a cozy space with vibrant colors and textures, inspired by the rich histories of both Thailand and Mexico. The atmosphere is welcoming, with a fun yet laid-back vibe that makes it a perfect spot for a casual dinner or a celebration with friends. If you’re lucky enough to dine in on a warm evening, the outdoor seating area provides a pleasant environment to enjoy your meal under the stars.

What really sets this restaurant apart is the balance of flavors. You’ll get the rich and creamy coconut from the Thai side, complemented by the tangy kick of Mexican salsas, creating a harmony of tastes that you wouldn’t normally expect. Even the drinks menu embraces this fusion theme, offering unique cocktails like the spicy mango margarita, blending tropical fruit and a hint of chili that’s sure to leave an impression. For those looking to try something a bit lighter, the Thai iced tea is a refreshing complement to any dish.

As for the reviews, it’s clear that Thai Mex Cocina has made a strong impact. Many customers rave about the innovative combination of flavors, praising dishes that feel both familiar and new. One popular review highlights the papaya salad burrito, which blends the sweet, spicy, and tangy profile of traditional Thai papaya salad wrapped in a soft burrito. It’s a perfect example of how the restaurant pushes the boundaries while staying true to its roots.

For those seeking variety, the restaurant offers a wide selection of vegetarian and gluten-free options, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the unique menu. The vegetarian pad Thai, for instance, uses plant-based proteins that are as satisfying as the meat alternatives, and the gluten-free tortillas are just as soft and flavorful as their traditional counterparts.

When visiting Thai Mex Cocina, it's worth trying their signature dishes like the Thai Mex enchiladas or the Thai basil fried rice burrito. Each bite is a reminder of how perfectly these two cuisines complement each other, offering an unexpected yet delightful experience. The presentation of each dish is also something to be admired, with vibrant colors and fresh garnishes that make every plate a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.

In short, Thai Mex Cocina is not just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of culture and creativity. If you’re in Los Angeles and looking for something new and exciting, this spot should be at the top of your list. With its inviting atmosphere, innovative menu, and commitment to quality, it’s no surprise that it’s becoming a local favorite. Whether you’re a foodie looking for your next great discovery or simply someone who enjoys delicious food, Thai Mex Cocina promises an unforgettable experience.

  • I ordered a chicken pad Thai. Very good. And the portion is decent sized, I recommend. This is located in the food court so the place is crowded and loud. Staff was friendly but wait time for food took a long time. If it weren’t for the long wait time, I would have given this a 5 star. But I have no complaint, the food was great!

  • My husband wanted to try this place at the food court. We went specifically for it and it didn’t disappoint. I had the chicken quesadilla, he ordered the tres amigos tacos and we shared a large agua Fresca and chicken dumplings. The dumplings were my favorite part! My chicken had Thai seasoning which was different and good! He loved his shrimp taco!! We’d go back!

  • I grew up in LA and my favorite foods just happen to be Thai & Mexican so I was so excited to try this place! Let me tell you I was so so NOT disappointed. The Fried rice with shrimp was the Best and crispy crunchy chicken wings. The Thai peanut sauce with a zesty Mexican twist is two delicious I cannot wait to go back for more! Btw I always thought Thai and Mexican would go great together, and one more thing. The so called “Thai” chili pepper originated in Mexico brought by trade ships across the Pacific in the 1500”s . I learned that in culinary school. oh but do not tell that to a Thai person unless you like to be muay-Thai- slapped.

  • I recently got around to giving Thai Mex Cocina a try - I had heard about it opening and was curious to try out a fusion spot such as this. It lived up to my hopes and expectations for the quality, taste, and presentation of the food! I could see how some people may have been put off a bit by the prices at a mall food court location, but I felt that (especially for LA) its quality and taste warranted the price. So when I went, it's located in the food court of Westfield Century City, a bit towards the back end of it. I took it to the outdoor seating area, which is always a relaxing and chill area to eat. I decided to order the 3 Amigos Tacos Plate, which comes with Chicken Satay, Spicy Garlic Shrimp, & Crispy Pork Belly Tacos. The plate also included some cucumbers, limes, chips, red & green salsas. The service was friendly and relatively quick, although there wasn't too many other people ordering from them at the time! Upon pulling it out, everything on the plate looked beautifully presented, and also very well seasoned and prepared. The taste of them didn't disappoint either - they all had a decent spice that complemented but did not overpower the tacos themselves. You could also add some salsa for extra heat, or use the cucumbers for something to cool off your mouth with. I love this concept and I feel that it's an excellent new addition to the Westfield Century City food court! Would I say come to the mall specifically for this? Probably not, but if you're at the mall and looking for something different to eat, I'd definitely say give it a try! The tacos I ordered were all excellent quality, taste, presentation, and portion size!

  • ABSOLUTELY UNDERRATED. Obviously a fusion between Mexican and Thai food— unique, yet filling flavors. Love the veggie burrito with peanut sauce, but they have a whole host of other options. You can’t go wrong. Love that it’s independently owned which feels rare for this mall. I grab food here every time I’m at Westfield Century City. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
